Back to Morrisville
This is the 1968 Morrisville High School, senior class trip to Washington DC. Can you name anybody in this picture? Can you find James Wood in this picture?
This is a picture of the 1954 Morrisville police department. This picture was also taken during Morrisville's 150th anniversary. To see more of the 1954 celebration click here.

The next three pictures were sent in by Dorothy Nemeth, life long Morrisville resident.
This picture taken at the Morrisville Railroad Station shows Dorothy Williams (now Dorothy Nemeth) on right, as she and classmate friend Frances Seidensticker Briggs prepare to leave on their 1949 high school class trip to Washington DC. This picture really captures a point in time, as the train station no longer exists and the cars to the left are now collector's items. Thank you Mrs. Nemeth, this is a great picture.
The William E. Case School, built in 1894, was located on Bridge Street at the location of the present day Robert Morris Apartments. Both my parents attended the Case School in the 1930s, and my brother Dave attended here in the late 1950s. And we both remembered the ginko trees (stinkbomb trees) in the playground. The Case School was replaced by the M.R.Reiter School, which was originally the Morrisville High School.
The rubber mill at the corner of Pennsylvania Avenue and Bridge Street was a major industry in Morrisville even into the 1970s. This much earlier picture, taken from Bridge Street, shows the pond was much larger then, date unknown.
Thank you again Mrs. Nemeth for these wonderful pictures.

This picture of the original Calhoun Street Bridge, was sent to us by Gene Gaydula, life long Morrisville resident. This picture is actually the copy of a copy. It is interesting to note that this was a photograph, but the men and boats were drawn in by hand.
Sitting: Harry Thomlinson, Chief John Davis, Joe Cavanaugh Stanley Naprawa
Standing: Mahlon Cummings, Cliff Morris, Frank Piciotti, Joe DiGiorgio
In 1954 Morrisville celebrated 150th birthday. This picture of the elected officials came from the sesqui-centennial publication
This aerial photo of Morrisville obviously predates the dike, and it is interesting to note that Park Avenue and Central Avenue on the Island were longer than they are today. The white area to the left of center is Hillside Avenue, and the large open area with the ball field is now the Morrisville Shopping Center. This picture was sent in by our Morrisville friend Bruce Brilla, who I believe got it from Ron Stockham. Our thanks to Bruce and Ron, this is a really great picture. I hope everybody enjoys it as much as I do. To see a blow-up of this picture Click Here.
This letter post-marked 1938 was sent to us by Morrisville resident Mike McCahan. It shows the dedication of the Morrisville Post Office. Interesting to note, the stamp denominations are, 1 cent, 1 1/2 cent and 1/2 cent. Another interesting note is that Mike's picture is on this page.
