A play by Thornton Wilder, performed at the Heritage Center by the Actors NET of Bucks County.
Unfortunately the pictures taken this night came out poorly. This is a shame because all the actors performed flawlessly and then to be shown in such poor quality pictures is really not fitting (we will have to have a talk with the photographer). But all that said, the play was wonderful, and we hope you can enjoy the pictures in spite of the quality.
This play is really a play about a play. The stage manager (played by David Swartz), act as the narrator, as he sets the scene of the play with his insightful commentary. Here he is introducing Professor Willard (played by Mickey Levitan). Even in this fuzzy picture it is easy to see Mickey Levitan did a splendid job portraying the eccentric professor.
Mrs. Gibbs (played by Giz Coughlin) and Mrs Webb (played by Virginia Barrie) sit and discuss the ways of the world, or at least the ways of a small New Hampshire town in 1903. Both of these parts were played to perfection; two no nonsense matriarchs holding the house together. Indeed they demanded one's attention, as they put the fear of God into characters and audience alike.
Emily Webb (played by Roseanne Jones) brightened every scene with her brilliant smile; all is well in the world when Emily is around. This fact will eventually lead the audience to some soul searching of their own. Thank you Roseanne for a wonderful job.
Doctor Gibbs (played by John Shanken-Kaye) having a heart to heart / man to man discussion with son George Gibbs about entering manhood. In a strong New England accent Doctor Gibbs has son George (played by Lawrence GuestIII) wondering if he really wants to go. From the look on George's face, he might be having second thoughts.
Emily and George working out their future
Now poor George gets an earful from Emily's father, the stoic Mr. Webb (played by Ken Ammerman). What a great job.
The whole town shows up for George and Emily's wedding
In the third act the towns people are again brought together, but for a much different reason. Seated at left is Simon Stimson (played by Pat McGuire). Standing in the center is Joe Staddard the undertaker (played by Marco Newton) and to the right is Howie Newsome with the hat (played by Corey Stradling)
With Mrs. Webb and Emily in the background, Constable Warren (played by Curt Lippe) looks on.
The cast comes out for their final curtain call, and again we apologise for the bad pictures.
